One of the things the law of attractionspeaks of is that we can attract whatever we want, and this suprisingly often receives a lot of flack from those who say they believe in many of the new age philosophies, including the law of attraction. This is what I call the new age cop-out.
Soapbox alert: I am about to get on mine.
Randy Gage has been talking about mediocrity (scarcity) versus abundance on his blog. He gets a lot of flack for saying things like his latest blog posting Matching Your Car to Your Shoes, where he says he matches his cars like many people match ties to their clothing (and personally he seems to take great pleasure in receiving that flack). People criticize him for being greedy and over-indulgent – that he is too materialistic and has more than he needs. This is the same sort of critcism that many of these people make of anyone who has money.
There’s a few key points here. First of all,the universe is not just a catalog, as Joe Vitale said on The Secret, where you just order what you want. My biggest criticism with that book/movie is that it only focused on what you get, and not the other side of the equation – you get by serving the world, by giving, and as you give more, you get more. It’s not a one-sided thing. To get money as Randy has, he’s given a huge amount to the world. He’s earned it. What he chooses to do with his wealth is his choice, and he has to live with his decisions. Who are we to pass judgement?
Second, as Randy points out, you can do a lot more when you have money to make a difference in the world. It’s great to feel bad about what’s happening in Haiti and make a $50 or $100 donation. It’s even better if you can write a check for $1,000 or $100,000 without blinking an eye.
And finally, you can’t be a little bit abundant any more than you can be a little bit pregnant. You either believe in abundance and it works without limits, or you don’t. Many of those who make these criticisms don’t have the abundance of wealth and money that people like Randy have. And I believe that this argument of ‘it’s not all about materialism‘ and ‘you only need so much’ is just rationalization so they don’t have to face the fact that they haven’t been able to manifest all they want. This is the new age cop-out.
The fact is, your results are not a judgement on who you are – they are only feedback to show you what your thoughts are. If you are still struggling and not having enough, then you don’t really believe 100% in the law of attraction. There is no ‘little bit abundant’. And if other’s wealth bothers you, then, by the mirror principle, is it your own wealth (or lack thereof) that’s really at root? It’s never about the other guy.

Randy Gage recently wrote a blog posting about making the time to find and connect with the joy in your life, and he is so bang on. Whether it's focusing on accomplishing goals or on connecting with what gives life meaning, we can become too obsessed with the goal or the seeking and forget to live.
Image via Wikipedia
Joy is not dependent on the economic climate or money or anyone else. The simple joys of life are available to us all. When I look at the sparkle in my son's eyes, or at a beautiful sunset, or hear the birds outside, they are all doorways to stepping into the now and into joy.
If we don't make the time to do this, all we have left are the struggles and challenges. The irony is that all of these little moments of joy and peace can more than regenerate us from all the struggles and challenges we face and take on. We just have to allow ourselves to stop and live life.
What value is the goal if you've missed the journey?
What are the fleeting moments of joy that you can take a moment or two to step into? Who is there in your life that you share moments of joy with?
That's my 2 cents. What do you think?

Yesterday I commented on a post by Randy Gage that emphasized that you have to stop doing some things to create the space for what you want to create to come into form. If you want to have an hour a day for exercise for example, something has to go to create that space.
One of the biggest things that we tend to hold on to is the ka-ka from our past – our struggles, our conflict, our turmoil. As long as we stay emotionally vested in that, we'll continue to bring it into form. It doesn't sound rational that we hold onto that 'stuff', but we do – because it's what we know.
People talk about the comfort zone, but often times, what we hold onto isn't comfortable – it's just familiar. That's why I talk about the familiar zone. And, as human beings, we can fight irrationally to hold onto stuff that's really messy because it's all we know. It's not rational, but it's very human.
If you have difficulty manifesting your aspirational goals of success, love, abundance and peace, and you haven't known these things much in your life, then you need to look at whether or not you're holding on to the lack of these things – because it's all you know.
As long as you hold on to all that 'stuff', you'll continue to create it. The 'scorecard' to see if you're holding on to it is to look at your life. Does it keep showing up in all the different circumstances and situations in your life? If it does, that's feedback, and you can do something about it. You see, if you look (as Randy says) at who is the only person at the scene of every crime (every situation), you need to look at yourself. And you are the one who is in charge of you.
This is not about blame or any of that guilt-ridden nonsense. This is about responsibility – personal responsibility. If you are still holding on to that 'stuff' that's good news, because in the end, you are in charge of you. And you can let go of it.
That's my 2 cents. What do you think?

In a recent blog posting, Randy Gage talks about his CCCSS model for creating the results you want – what to Continue, what to Change, what to Complete, what to Start and what to STOP doing, and he emphasizes the last point – what to STOP doing, and rightly so.
Let's look at a simple example – let's say you want to exercise daily for about 20 minutes. Well, with preparation, travel time shower time and everything else, you're looking at an hour a day at least – that's seven hours a week. Well, there are only 168 hours in a week – time is a limited resource in this world. What are you going to stop doing to create the space for something/someone new to come into your life? Something has to go. That's why most exercise plans never happen – and that's why many people don't create the world they want. They don't know what to let go of. Once you let go you create a vacuum, and nature abhors a vacuum.
What do you have to let go of to manifest what you want?
