People have spoken of authenticity as our destination – a place we’re moving towards – or as a starting point – where we begin our journey. I think it’s neither – it’s the journey itself. It’s a choice we make every moment of every day we live.
In every moment we have a choice. Do we simply move quickly and do what’s needed to be done in the busyness of life, or do we take that moment to slow ourselves down, connect inside with our authentic selves, and follow the inner guidance that we all have, if we simply take the time to connect with it? That inner wisdom, that inner knowing comes from being in tune with our authentic selves. We know what is the right thing for us to authentically do in every situation, if we simply make the time to get in touch with it.
And that’s a choice we each make every moment of every day. I certainly haven’t been authentic in every moment of my life – far from it, if I’m to be honest. But I strive to be more truly authentic each day, and to learn from when I’m not.
What do you choose?
